Spacious. Eclectic. Environmental. These words come to mind when visiting the lofts at the Golden Belt Complex. Located on East Main Street, Golden Belt offers 37 non-furnished lofts.
Each one has one bedroom that is located upstairs, one bathroom, a washer and dryer that is located downstairs, and a kitchen with refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, and microwave. The lofts range from 890-1260 sq. ft.
“The lofts opened in 2008 and have been extremely popular. We usually are between 90-100 percent occupied,” said Jessie Brown, management assistant.
There are already prospective residents applying for spring 2013. The apartments are LEED Gold Certified by the U.S. Green Building Council.
“There is an application process that people need to go through,” said Brown. The application form is also available on the Golden Belt website and gives an of overview the criteria.
There are three different types of lofts: floating loft, extended loft, and corner loft. If the loft you want is not available, you will be put on a waiting list.
There are other lofts, such as a floating loft with a terrace and an extended loft with a terrace.
The lofts range from $975-$1,375 per month.
“What a fantastic job they did renovating that old textile building and converting it into lofts and artist studios,” said one reviewer using the name Naomi K. on yelp.com. “The old framework, original rusty i-beams and wooden planks still remain, but the floor to ceiling paneled windows are all new and clear and provide excellent natural lighting,” she said.
“Our leases are typically for 12 months, although we can do shorter terms for a premium rate,” said Brown. Shorter term leases are available from 3-6 months at 10 percent premium. Residents can extend the lease but have to be in good financial standing.
Golden Belt sits right on the free Bull City Connector bus line offering free service to downtown and other entertainment, shopping, and restaurant districts in Durham.
