After talking so much about all those restaurants, I needed a break! I love trying things, so this time I decided to try something different.

The store I visited is called TROSA Grocery. The store is run by an organization called TROSA, which stands for Triangle Residential Options for Substance Abusers.  The store is located at the corner of Angier Avenue and Driver Street in Durham, North Carolina.

The exact address is: 2104 Angier Avenue, Durham, NC 27705. Their phone number is (919) -524-9153.  The store hours are 9 am and 7 p.m, Tuesday through Sunday. They are closed on Monday.  I really enjoyed visiting TROSA Grocery.  This experience was different than the ones I’ve had before because TROSA is not a restaurant, it’s a grocery store.

The person I talked to at TROSA is Ms. Wendy Noel.  She is the manager and has been working at the store since it opened in 2010. Before Wendy became the manager she was the Special Projects Coordinator.  I think Wendy is good at what she does and enjoys it too.

The people at TROSA seem to really care for their customers. One way they care for their customers is by helping customers get the most for their money.  For people who receive WIC (Women, Infants and Children program food vouchers), TROSA Grocery takes some of the hassle out of shopping by helping the customer find some of the WIC approved foods they need.

Ms. Wendy said that the WIC food can be hard to find in bigger stores because WIC has so many rules.  TROSA Grocery also accepts food stamps. The people at TROSA wanted to put the store in Northeast Central Durham so that they could make sure there was a store nearby with lots of healthy food choices for the people who live there.

In my opinion the best thing about TROSA is that they help people in recovery from addictions to drugs and other substances.  The money that the store earns is used to fund TROSA’s recovery program.

Also, I think it is really great that they don’t sell products that can become addictive or hurt people, like cigarettes, or alcohol. TROSA doesn’t even sell lottery tickets because they don’t want to sell things that could possibly be bad for their customers.

I think it is cool that TROSA Grocery will be having events for the public such as their small yard sales and their peach festival.

TROSA Grocery also advertises easy quick meals that people can make each month. They do this by choosing a different recipe every month. Then after it is chosen, they make it, and hold a taste testing in the store for customers. The person who chooses the recipe makes sure that it is always quick, healthy, and good. You can use TROSA Grocery’s recipes to become healthier and maybe lose some weight.

This month I got to pick out the recipe! I chose the beef fajitas.  I went to TROSA Grocery to pick the ingredients out, then I went home and cooked it. It was yummy, delicious and really easy to make.

Here is the recipe for you to try at home. It only took about 20 minutes to cook. I cooked it all by myself. My family liked it too. My mom said, “Kobi, this is wonderful. You can make this again next week!”

Well, in my opinion it was very tasty, but it was also too chewy. So next time I might use turkey strips, chicken, or shrimp instead of the beef.
