Welcome to the Durham VOICE. We are a community newspaper written primarily for and by youth. Our main focus is to highlight what is going on in the Northeast Central Durham area.

We are the voice for this unique area of Durham and we will make sure to keep everyone updated things happening, interesting people, and upcoming events. We hope you will join us.

My name is Zenzele Barnes and I am the teen editor-in-chief of the VOICE. I am a junior at Jordan High School this year. Some of my hobbies included sewing and making crafts, listening and making music, singing, photography, and learning new things.

I love meeting new people in the community. Durham seems small, but there are so many people who live here, and there is so much to learn about its past. The thing I like most is seeing people doing what they love. It inspires me to make the best out of my life and the opportunities I have.

That is why I am so happy to be the teen editor of the VOICE. It is important for the unspoken members of society that make a change to be highlighted and given a voice.

  1. What a great way to learn more about Durham, as well as giving these students some hands on experience in communications via writing. Good idea!
