Minnie Forte-Brown, Chair of the Durham School Board, shares her views on the qualities of a good board member:
- “Has to have a true commitment of time and energy”
- “Has to respect all aspects and components, along with faculty and staff”
- “A love for children”
- “An undying commitment to student achievement”
Forte-Brown suggests that any person running for a School Board seat should ask themselves two questions: “What is best for children?” and “How will my decision affect student achievement?”
