The ReStore, located near the Durham-Chapel Hill border on 15-501, offers gently used furniture, appliances and household goods as well as construction materials.

Developed in 1995, with over $600 thousand raised, ReStore also helps fund Habitat for Humanity. Money raised is distributed equally between Durham and Orange counties.

“The store is as good as any other store and would probably have what you need for a cheaper price,” said Durham resident, Jennifer Bridges.

They also offer a de-construction program to prepare homes for re-modeling or re-building.

According to ReStore Manager Erv Rea, people donate “furniture, household goods, toys, books, building materials, anything.”

Donations are tax deductible and accepted donations include:

-Building and construction materials

-Furniture

-Electronics

-Antiques and Collectibles

“Consider going there first before going anywhere else,” said Bridges.

ReStore employee Evelyn Brown wants people to know that “the prices are good, furniture is priced reasonably and we make sure we put out the best stuff.”

ReStore does not accept clothing, computers or items that dirty, broken or not in working condition.

“All stuff is tested and cleaned,” said Brown.

Free pick-up is available for large items such as furniture and building materials. Prices are non-negotiable and there are no-exchanges or refunds.

The ReStore accepts cash, checks, Visa, Mastercard, Discover and debit cards.

“Most prices range from $10 to $12, some as high $5,000 for antiques,” said Rea.

Volunteers are welcome with assorted opportunities and flexible shifts available. For more information about volunteering, call 403-8668 prompt 3.

Visit ReStore at 5501 Durham-Chapel Hill Blvd. Durham, NC 27707 or call 403-8668.

“We want to always be available to the public,” said Rea.
