This February the organization, African-Americans for Humanism began its billboard campaign in six cities throughout America. Durham, the smaller of the six cities which include, Atlanta, Chicago, and New York, was selected because of its history, smaller cost, and its secular groups such as the Triangle Freethought Society and Secular Students for Rational Inquiry.

The billboard can be seen on the Durham freeway coming towards the city from Raleigh at the Briggs avenue exit.

  1. Great video. Very well put together and poignant. I want to know more about this story and wish it could be made into something longer and bigger.

  2. Jonathan Tabb says:

I find it interesting that the pastor says it takes faith to believe in nothing. I don’t think he understands what the word “faith” means. It seems to me that he also doesn’t understand evolution. He says it takes faith to believe we came from monkey… I have to agree. We don’t come from monkeys.

We share a common ancestor with every living creature on this planet. Our most recent ancestor was ape-like and we are most closely related to specific species of apes currently living. They are our closest cousins.

I find that when a person gives me a reason as to why they don’t believe evolution occurred, at an estimated rate of about 90%, they’re reasons could be explained if they’d actually learn something about it. I can’t tell you how many times people say they don’t understand how we evolved from apes if there are still apes around. Clearly, they just don’t know what evolution actually is.

It was GREAT to see my friend Veronique here!
