We are a community-oriented newspaper that highlights current events in the Northeast Central Durham community. We are made up of journalists from local universities, UNC and NCCU, as well as high school-age writers.

Our mission is to enlighten people about this unique area of Durham, including all its history as well as its plans for the future.

My name is Zenzele Barnes and I am the teen editor of the VOICE. I am currently a junior in high school at Jordan High School. I enjoy working with the arts, I like to sew and I am interested in photography. I personally believe that everyone has a voice and a story to tell. Being the teen editor of the VOICE lets me experience all the culture and history Durham has to offer.

Our motto is, “Our Community, Our Times, Our Voices,” and we plan on making our voices heard.

We’re recruiting area teens to write, photograph and video for the VOICE. So join us! Contact me at thedurhamvoice@gmail.com

You are cordially invited to our first-ever GENERAL INTEREST MEETING for area teens, this coming Sat., Feb. 13, from 10-11 a.m., at our new NEWSROOM at the Golden Belt Campus at 807 E. Main Street.

    • Hey Thanks, Toby,
We are a Charlie Brown community journalism effort, small but sincere.
We believe Durham is/and has been on the cusp of a renaissance in many ways.
We just want to give VOICE to those authentic “voices” and be a part of the positive change.
      JL
